My nose skin is very thin. What type of advantages micro rhinoplasty brings in this case?
Answer:
In patients with thin nose skin, even the slightest irregularity can be felt or even seen. These irregularities can occur in bony or cartilage compartments. In usual rhinoplasties done with routine osteotomes and rasps, bony irregularities may be seen because of inadequate control of the surgical instruments. The instruments may fracture the bone in undesirable way. This is not the case with powered micro osteotomy that cuts the bone under direct control. Fine results of micro osteotomy do not cause any irregularity visible or palpable through the thin skin. Also fine shaping of cartilage structures of the nose with preparation of cartilage micrografts if it is needed helps in preparing smooth cartilaginous compartment.

After 45-50 the bones become looser and more brittle against trauma, so the power of hammer becomes more destructive in these patients. Micro saw system brings a lot advantages for these patients by preventing the unwanted destructive results on bone.

Answer:
I do many secondary rhinoplasties with professional endonasal system even ig they have had their previous rhinoplasties with open approach. Also micro saw system brings the capability to do every minor and major remodeling on bone. I harvest the remnants of septal cartilage in most of my cases with micro dissection from inside the nose so the need for cartilage from ear or ribs decreases very distinct. The most important matter in secondary rhinoplasties is the quality of skin and if there is not problem in this case, many can be given to the patient by micro rhinoplasty.
